Workshops April 2018

I am pleased to announce that we will shortly be offering our first two day introductory workshop "Foundations of Dyeing for the Costumer" this April on Sat. April 21st and Sat. April 28th.

This course will introduce and/or review the fundamentals of dyeing for the costumer. Topics will include: colorants, fibre type and dye type review; dyes commonly used in Vancouver’s film and theatre industries including sources; communicating about colour; dyeing processes; recipes & keeping records; the 1% solution & dyeing by weight of fibre (WOF); and hands on sample dyeing. Lecture and discussion will be followed by dye tests on three different fabrics.  Samples will be shared by the class and each student will create a sample book of a range of (primarily Dylon) colour swatches.

We are working in tandem with Dawn Climie, of 'Don't Shoot the Costumer', whose two day workshop  "Costume SPFX: Blood and Ice" is oferred on Sat. April 7th and Sat. April 14th, same time and same place.
